Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as of the last date of application)
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 40 years
- Age Relaxation: Available for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwD (10-15 years as per category).
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed 10th standard (Matriculation) from a recognized board with passing marks in Mathematics and English.
- Should have studied the local language of the respective state/region up to Class 10.
- Knowledge of Computer and Cycling is mandatory.
Job Profiles & Responsibilities
1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)
- Managing daily postal operations of the Branch Post Office (B.O.).
- Promoting postal products and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) services.
- Responsible for the smooth functioning of the branch, mail conveyance, and customer service.
- Accommodation: BPMs must provide accommodation for the Branch Post Office at their own cost.
2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)
- Sale of stamps/stationery, doorstep mail delivery, and financial transactions.
- Assisting BPM in operations and marketing postal services.
- Required to reside within the jurisdiction of the assigned Post Office.
3. Dak Sevak
- Handling mail sorting, delivery, and collection from post offices.
- Assisting in counter operations and marketing postal services.
- Can be posted in Head Post Offices, Sub-Post Offices, or Railway Mail Services (RMS).

Selection Process
- Merit-Based Shortlisting: The selection will be based on the 10th standard marks (No written exam).
- A system-generated merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained/conversion of grades to marks.
- In case of a tie, date of birth (older candidate preferred) and category priority will be used.
- Shortlisted candidates must verify their documents at the designated post office.
How to Apply for India Post GDS 2025?
- Register Online: Visit India Post GDS Online Portal and complete the registration.
- Upload Documents: Submit scanned copies of photograph, signature, and necessary certificates.
- Pay Application Fee: ₹100 for general/OBC candidates. No fee for SC/ST/PwD/Female/Transgender applicants.
- Submit Application & Preference: Candidates can apply for multiple posts in one division.
Document Verification & Final Selection
- Shortlisted candidates will receive an SMS/email notification.
- Candidates must visit the post office for document verification within 15 days.
- Final selection is subject to successful verification of educational certificates, caste certificate, and medical fitness.
Important Notes
- No offline applications will be accepted.
- Candidates must ensure their details are correct before submission.
- The last merit list will be published by 30th June 2025.
