JNV Class IX Age Limit

  • The date of birth of the candidate must be between 1st May 2010 to 31st July 2012 (both days inclusive)

JNV Class IX Eligibility

  1. Residential Requirement: Candidates must be bonafide residents of the district where they wish to apply, with proof of residence in the same district.
  2. School Requirement: Candidates must be studying in Class VIII (2024-25) in a Government or Government-recognized school in the same district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) is located.
  3. District Consistency: The district of residence and the district where the candidate studies Class VIII must be the same for applying to Class IX (2025-26) in the respective JNV.
  4. Age Limit: Candidates should be born between May 1, 2010, and July 31, 2012 (inclusive), applicable to all categories.
  5. Age Verification: Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti may refer any candidate to a medical board if there is any doubt regarding the age, with the board’s decision being final.
  6. Nationality: Only Indian nationals studying in Class VIII within the concerned district are eligible to apply.

State-wise Distribution of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas

According to the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme, one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is to be set up in each District in a phased manner. At present, 653 Vidyalayas are functional in 27 States and 08 Union Territories. The State-wise distribution of functional JNVs is as under:

Documents to be Submitted After Selection

The parents of the provisionally selected candidates for admission to class IX through lateral entry selection test will have to submit the following documents at the time of admission for verification: –

  • i. Proof for date of birth -The copy of Birth Certificate issued by competent Government Authority concerned.
  • ii. Proofs for eligibility as per the norms/conditions of NVS.
  • iii. For candidates seeking admission under rural quota, the parents will also have to submit a certificate from the competent authority of District Administration to the effect that the child had studied class VIII in an Institution/ School located in a rural area.
  • iv. Residence Certificate: The valid residential proof (as notified by Govt. of India) of the parent of the same District where the JNV is located & candidate has studied class VIII shall be furnished.
  • v. Copy of Aadhaar Card of the candidate: As per section 7 of Aadhaar act, 2016, the provisionally selected candidate has to submit the copy of his/her Aadhaar Card
  • vi. Certificate by the Head Master of the school regarding study details.
  • vii. Medical fitness certificate from the competent authority.
  • viii. Divyang certificate (if applicable)
  • ix. Category/community certificate (SC/ST/OBC/Divyang) (if applicable).

Note: – Transfer Certificate from parent school after the verification of documents and confirmation of admission by the respective JNV is to be submitted after getting counter signature of District Education Authorities (DEO/BEO etc.)
